In pursuit of an avocation

Profile
-
I have had a lifelong interest in working with wood, an interest cultivated by my father. In addition to basic wood skills, he taught me to work with precision and strive for high quality.

But my father also encouraged me to pursue a life of the mind and I spent my working life as an academic. For 35 years I was a professor of biology, a career that required perseverance as well as precision to train several generations of students and seek answers to important questions.

Through the years I utilized woodcraft as one of my 'therapies' away from the laboratory and classroom. At the end of a day in the shop, there was always a concrete product to show for my efforts. This was not always the case in the Academy!

In my retirement I have further cultivated my interests in furniture construction and now share the products of my labor with those attracted to my functional and practical designs. I hope you enjoy them!
